Tsmc Grabbed Euv Lithography Machine And Accelerated The Start-up Of 7nm Euv Production

According to Fast Technologies, ASML will increase the annual shipment of EUV lithography machines from 18 to 30 this year.

According to the latest news from the industry chain, TSMC will include 18 of ASML's EUV lithography machines, together with previous ones, which will start production of 7Nm EUV in March this year, boosting 7nm's share of wafer sales in 2019 to 25% from 9% last year.

At present, chips based on the 7-nm process of TSMC, such as Apple A12 and Huawei Kirin 980, are only 7-nm DUV process, while DUV technology is obviously too poor to meet the needs of more advanced process technology. And this time, TSMC's rush for EUV lithography machine will surely lay a solid foundation for 5nm or even more advanced process technology besides accelerating 7Nm EUV production.

Earlier, the time given by TSMC Co-CEO Wei Zhejia at the investors'meeting indicated that in the late first half of 2019, the film was 5 nm and mass production was in the first half of 2020.

People familiar with the situation also revealed that TSMC will become the exclusive supplier of A13 customized chips for Apple's 2019 iPhone series, and will produce A13 chips in the second quarter of this year using a 7-nm process, including an enhanced version of 7-nm process using extreme ultraviolet technology.
